Some new features in each of the versions of Sorenson Squeeze 5:

• Squeeze 5 now allows users to encode a file on each of a computer's available processor cores. For example, if a computer has four processor cores, it could encode four files simultaneously, rather than having to cue them up.
• New codecs include: VC-1, ATSC A-52 (an AC-3 compatible multi-channel audio codec) and constrained H.264 codecs for Flash (now also available in Squeeze 5 and Squeeze 5 Pro). Improved codecs include MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, providing much higher quality video, especially in the HD settings.
• New filters include: Watermark, Hue-and-Saturation, Sharpen, Audio Duration and Audio Volume. Improved filters include: Inverse Telecine, Deinterlacing, Audio Fade and Video Fade (now separate), Noise (level is now adjustable). Filter order is now customizable, greatly decreasing processing time.
• A workflow-friendly organization of presets, now called Audience presets, is new. Presets are now sorted not by file extension, but by medium or type of device on which they will be played. For example, various settings for Web playback, H.264, FLV, SWF, are now all in the Web folder. Users can also customize the preset list in the old format view or combine the two. A search feature built into the preset lists allows users to easily find what they need.
• Squeeze 5 Pro now supports many VST plug-ins. It comes standard with Bias Soundsoap ($129 value) as a VST plug-in, which allows users to create squeaky-clean audio by removing all the noise and crackling. All pro versions include On2 VP6 codec, Bias Soundsoap and command line encoding capabilities. Squeeze 5 Pro for Mac includes Telestream's Flip-4-Mac.

    Squeeze analyzes your audio to find the loudest sound and then adjusts the audio to maximum volume.
  • Contrast/brightness
    Contrast changes the range of dark-to-light pixels in a linear fashion. Brightness makes the image lighter or darker. Contrast and brightness filters can improve the compression quality.
  • Deinterlacing
    Squeeze's deinterlacing feature can improve the look of your video by removing interlacing artifacts created by the two fields-per-frame nature of conventional video.
  • Fade in/out
    Fade in/out lets you create a black or white fade segment at the beginning or end of your movie.
  • Telecine removal
    Telecine removal maintains video quality by removing the extra frames that are added (3:2 pull down) when film (24 frames per second) is transferred to video (30 frames per second).

    The video noise reduction feature reduces video noise in your content without causing it to appear fuzzy. Reducing noise can increase video encoding quality.
